Closure of the CDU-NALP office
Frequently asked questions about the future of NALP and CDU involvement.
Why is CDU-NALP closing down?
CDU-NALP closed on 31 December 2009 because the contract which funds it has been completed after a five-year program of activity.
Does this mean there’ll be no more Accelerated Literacy in schools?
No, Accelerated Literacy will continue to provide an excellent strategy to improve literacy standards for children. Your state or territory’s education department will determine when and how AL is used in schools as an overarching program. Individual teachers may also use it as part of their teaching repertoire.
Where can I get support for Accelerated Literacy?
- The Accelerated Literacy support team in the education department for your state or territory.
- The online resources available on the NALP website will still be available into 2010 but probably not beyond the end of 2010.
- Teaching guides can be purchased directly through the CDU Bookshop.
- You may wish to enrol in the Graduate Certificate in Accelerated Literacy (GCAL) in 2010.

Will I be able to get ALIAS reports from the website?
No. The ALIAS database has been deactivated on the NALP website. Each NALP partner jurisdiction has received a copy of its own ALIAS data.
